Illegal dumping is a blight on the Shoalhaven's natural beauty and environment. Rubbish dumping and littering raises a number of concerns for the environment, public health and safety as well as the financial costs incurred.
Littering attracts a penalty of between $60 & $375. The dumping, storage or placing of waste material can attract penalty notices from $750 to $1500 for an Individual or $1500 to $5000 for a company.
Large dumping offences are referred to Court for adjudication where upon conviction penalties upon conviction in the Land & Environment Court range from up to $1,000,000 for individuals and to $5,000,000 for companies.
