Food safety supervisor requirement
The food safety supervisor (FSS) requirement is a state wide initiative designed to further improve the standard of food safety within food businesses. Businesses have until the 1st of October 2011 to nominate a person to be the FSS, have them trained and then notify of their FSS.
The FSS must be trained by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved by the NSW Food Authority. Click here to view a list of approved Approved RTO’s (new window). Only approved RTO’s can issue a Food Safety Supervisor certificate.
The food business must notify their FSS within 7 days of receiving their qualification. This can be done on-line at NSW Food Authority website (new window) or alternatively you can notify Council.
