The Aboriginal Community Development Officer (ACDO) is located in the Community Services section of Council.
The Aboriginal Community Development Officer’s role is a vital link between Aboriginal communities of the Shoalhaven and Council. The ACDO role involves promoting Council’s facilities and services to community and providing advice to Council of the issues and needs of Aboriginal communities.

Shoalhaven City Council Aboriginal Advisory Committee
In 1997 Shoalhaven City Council established the Aboriginal Advisory Committee to advise Council on the needs of Aboriginal people living in the Shoalhaven Local Government Area.
The Aboriginal Advisory Committee provides and opportunity for Council to develop a structure for effective communication with Aboriginal communities and the opportunity for Aboriginal communities to inform and participate in Council decision-making.
