Family Day Care educators are professionals committed to providing high quality child care and education for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in a home environment.  Family Day Care is a wonderful child care option for all families, with the emphasis on providing a warm, safe and secure environment where children grow and learn.

The Coordination Unit

The coordination unit is dedicated to working with families and educators toward quality outcomes for all.  The coordination unit staff are fully qualified professionals with many years experience caring for children and working within a variety of early childhood settings.  Staff regularly undertake announced and unannounced home visits to educators to support and monitor the quality of care.  Training and support is provided to educators to meet the high standards required. A weekly play session is run by the play session coordinator during school terms.  The scheme also has an extensive toy and resource library which is available to educators for loan to use in their service to enhance and support programming and planning.

Shoalhaven Family Day Care is a licensed and accredited scheme offering Child Care Benefit and the Child Care Rebate to eligible families

Childcare and education

Educators can provide care for up to 7 children with a limit of 5 under school age.  Enrolment registrations are by appointment and a $20 registration fee applies to all families.The scheme is sponsored by Shoalhaven City Council .  The coordination unit receives funding from the Australian Government – Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to support the operation of the scheme.
