Council is made up of a Mayor and twelve Councillors.

Council's Mayor is Councillor Paul Green.

In September each year the Councillors elect a Deputy Mayor and Assistant Deputy Mayor.  For 2011/2012 the Deputy Mayor is Councillor Andrew Guile and the Assistant Deputy Mayor is Councillor Greg Watson.

The current Council members were elected in the 2008 Local Government elections.
