Everything you need to know about Shoalhaven’s Youth Week

Skateboarding, photography, music and art will be on the list of things for young people to celebrate Youth Week in the Shoalhaven from 20 to 30 April. 

“Youth Week is an opportunity for young people across Shoalhaven to share ideas, attend live events, celebrate their contribution to the community, and to have fun,” said Mayor Amanda Findley. 

“Council is proud to support Youth Week events hosted by local organisations that acknowledge and celebrate the city’s young people,” Cr Findley said. 

The Point Project 

A festival aimed at bringing the local community to the Sanctuary Point Skate Park for a fun and interactive day out. Fun activities include: Totem Skate School workshops, local musicians, free sausage sizzle, footy toss comp, and photo booth. Street art consultants will run a virtual reality activity contributing local ideas to the theme of the next skate park mural. 

When: Friday 21 April, 11am – 3pm 
Where: Sanctuary Point Skatepark, Centaur Ave, Sanctuary Point.

Photography Workshop 

First Nations photographer Talesha Farrell is holding a FREE photography workshop for anyone aged 15yrs – 25yrs. The workshop encourages participants to explore new possibilities with photography and includes a tour of the exhibition Jerrinja Balaang. The exhibition includes photographs from a group of talented indigenous female artists. 

When: Saturday 22 April, 2pm - 4pm

Night is Young Festival 

Headliner for the festival is Aodhan, an indigenous songwriter based in the Illawarra and winner of Triple J Unearthed High Indigenous initiative. Aodhan will be supported by south coast musicians Toruadh and Monday Lane. Headspace Nowra has organised young local entrepreneurs to host a market and sell their goodies at the festival. There will be jewellery, clothing, photography, art, candles, and food. 

When: Saturday 29th April,12pm – 8pm
