About the project
The investigation and future upgrades proposed by the masterplan will consider an upgrade to improve the boat ramp, jetty, and other facilities near Prince Edward Avenue, Crookhaven Heads.
The first stage of this project (Stage 1) is seeking funding from the Transport for NSW Boating Now Program, which provides grant funding opportunities to improve boating infrastructure across New South Wales (NSW). This program has already funded over 200 projects since 2014.
The proposed improvements include a new two-lane boat ramp and a walkway pontoon, which will make the facilities more accessible. The proposed design will also address the replacement of the existing timber jetty in the same location.
As the project develops, there will be thorough checks to ensure the proposed improvements don't have a negative impact on the environment. These checks include carrying out impact assessments, conducting specialist studies, and obtaining necessary licences and permits from State Government agencies. The masterplan also aims to improve security, usability, and connectivity for users of the boat ramp and surrounding facilities.
The project is currently in a conceptual stage and doesn't have funding. Council is inviting the community to give their thoughts on what improvements are needed and whether the current plan is suitable. This feedback will help decide the project’s future and support applications for grant funding.
