About the project

In 2020 Shoalhaven Water identified a list of water and sewer mains that were at risk of breaking, or reaching the end of their lifespan.

Shoalhaven Water engaged a consultant to undertake the required design services, with subsequent construction works to be delivered. For more information about the identified list of mains, please refer to the parent project, Design Services – Mains Program.

About the packages of works

Shoalhaven water has commenced construction for the water main at Bream Beach and the sewer main at Naval Parade. Read more about these packages of works below.

Bream Beach water main

The water main running through Bream Beach is considered critical according to the Council’s asset management system as it’s the sole main supplying water to Wrights Beach. However, the existing service faces growing issues due to its age, the type of pipe used (white PVC), and its current location beneath a caravan park.

Shoalhaven Water has completed a detailed design for relocating this water main. The goal is to upgrade it, enhance its usefulness, and reduce the risk of ongoing breakages.

Naval Parade sewer main

The sewer rising main from SPS 22 in Wrights Beach currently discharges into the existing sewer gravity main along the St Georges Basin foreshore.

However, this sewer main is affected by changing water levels within the basin. As part of the associated Coastal Management Plan, there’s a proposal to relocate the sewer main to Naval Parade Road.This relocation aims to prevent future discharges into St Georges Basin
