About the project

In 2022 severe weather and large waves during a natural disaster event caused significant damage to this pedestrian beach access path and stairs, including rapid deterioration and loss of several steps.

The recent approval for Commonwealth disaster recovery funding is a key milestone in councils' efforts to repair damages and restore the best functionality to this beach access asset. Communication and progress tracking will be maintained to keep all stakeholders informed throughout the reconstruction and repair process.

Works will involve the replacement of a failed staircase asset, failed due to severe weather and will require the replacement asset be brought into line with current engineering standards for the coastal environment.
