4/11/2024 - Works to repair the beach access at Kiola Beach are expected to start Monday 4 November 2024. Works are anticipated to be completed within the coming weeks.

About the project

In 2022 severe weather and large waves during a natural disaster event caused significant damage to this pedestrian beach access path and stairs. Erosion of the embankment at the beach access path has exposed concrete foundations of timber posts.

The recent approval for Commonwealth disaster recovery funding marks a key milestone in our efforts to rectify the damage and restore the best functionality to this access asset. Communication and progress tracking will be maintained to keep all stakeholders informed throughout the repair process.

Works will involve the replacement of a failed staircase asset, failed due to severe weather and will require the replacement asset be brought into line with current engineering standards for the coastal environment.
