Lakehaven Drive - Sussex Inlet - Revetment Wall & Fish Cleaning Table

The Shoalhaven was declared a Natural Disaster Area on the 14 September 2022 (AGRN 1034) after severe weather and flooding events. This had a major impact on Sussex Inlet and surrounding communities by causing damage to infrastructure and property. Council has scheduled repair works along the foreshore that include revetment (retaining) wall and fish cleaning tables.

The latest

12/12/2024 - Completed: Repairs have been successfully carried out, and the work is now complete

21/11/2024 - Asphalt works have been completed. Installation of the shelter is scheduled for late November.

About the project

This project addresses the storm damaged timber retaining wall and concrete slab north of the boat ramp. The damaged wall will be replaced with a sandstone revetment wall and the fish-cleaning table and shelter reinstated.  

2024 Works history

17/10/2024 - Asphalt works and installation of the shelter have been programmed for early November 2024.

02/10/2024 - Works are nearing completion.

27/8/2024 - Construction of the rock revetment is nearing completion. Works will now focus on the construction of the fish cleaning facilities.

14/08/2024 - Construction of the rock revetment has commenced. Works included the removal of the fish cleaning tables, damaged concrete slab and part of the existing collapsed timber retaining wall.

01/08/2024 - Preliminary works have commenced. Works will include the establishment of the site/compound area and installation of erosion and sediment control devices.

June 2024 - Council has obtained Natural Disaster Recovery funding to complete the revetment wall and fish cleaning table replacement. Works are expected to commence in July 2024 weather permitting.

2023 Works history

November 2023 - Budget is not available to complete this project in the 2023/24 financial year. Funding has been moved to next financial year and the project has been deferred.

September 2023 - Due to limited construction funds the current focus of the works is to address the damage to the fish cleaning facility, repair the most at-risk sections of the revetment wall and prevent further deterioration of the bank. Council is reviewing the final design plans and will provide them on this page once approved.
