Marriot Park tree replacement program

12 dying Eucalyptus trees have been identified and need to be urgently removed. For every tree removed, two new trees will be planted.

About the project

Urgent tree removal works are required at Marriott Park in Nowra to removed 12 dying Eucalyptus trees. 

This comes after an assessment by our Tree Management Officer declaring works essential for public safety.

A contractor has been engaged to complete the following:

  • Remove 12 dying trees (Eucalyptus scoparia)
  • Remove deadwood / trim 8 trees
  • Stump grind 2 trees within lawn area

Works have been approved by Transport NSW to take place between 5:00pm - 5:00am, Sunday 23 June to Thursday 27 June 2024 (inclusive).

Succession planting

For every tree removed, two new trees will be planted. Planting of new trees will commence immediately after the contracted works have been completed.

Our Tree Management Officer has advised a combination of the following species to be planted:

  • Spotted Gum, Corymbia maculata
  • Woollybutt, Eucalyptus longifolia
  • Grey Ironbark, E. paniculata
  • Turpentine, Syncarpia glomulifera
  • Blackbutt, Eucalyptus pilularis

The succession planting also considers the adopted master plan for this site and potential future widening of the highway.
