About the project
These works will involve implementation of a technique referred to as Nature Assisted Beach Enhancement (also known as beach scraping), to remediate beach erosion and reinstate public beach access. This process will involve the mechanical movement of sand from the lower part of the beach onto the higher part of the beach/dune, utilising heavy plant machinery. Implementation of these works is for the purposes of environmental protection and public risk mitigation, which has been approved in consultation with NSW Crown Lands and Department of Primary Industry Fisheries (Crown Land licence 634367). The work is being funded through a partnership with the NSW Department of Planning and Environmental Coastal and Estuary Grant Program.
To mitigate risk to the community, temporary public exclusion zones marked by signage will be in place during works. Authorised contractors engaged by Council will have spotters on site to implement these safety measures. Council asks that the public abide by all controls for safety consideration.
If you would like to know any further information about these works, please contact Coastal Management by replying directly to this email or phone 1300 293 111.
