About the project

The primary purpose of this project is to update Council’s Review of Environmental Factors (REF) to undertake entrance openings in accordance with the Shoalhaven River Entrance Management Policy (EMP) for flood mitigation purposes at Shoalhaven Heads.

The REF is to cover entrance management, including dry notch maintenance, pilot channel excavation and storage of sand for sand nourishment purposes. Once the REF is completed, Council will apply for a NSW Crown Lands licence that is required to implement the EMP. The project will provide Council with a formalised environmental assessment and approval pathway consistent with legislation.

This project is supported by a funding partnership with NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
