Braidwood Road - Shoalhaven LGA - Pavement repair

The Shoalhaven was declared a Natural Disaster Area 5 March 2022 after an East Coast Low and rain events that caused rapid deterioration to pavements and roads. Braidwood Road is a high-volume key travel route for the Shoalhaven LGA. This road remains one our highest priorities and Council staff are continually monitoring and undertaking risk mitigation works to minimise defects.

The latest

1/10/2024 - Remaining line marking is planned to be carried out Thursday 10 October 2024, weather permitting. Following this work, this current pavement repair works program is completed.

2024 Works history

26/8/2024 - Line marking is planned to be carried out next week, the first week of September 2024. Pavement repair works and defect rectification works are completed.

13/8/2024 - Pavement repair works are completed. Defect rectification works are also completed. Line marking to be carried out in the last week of August.

22/7/2024 - Pavement repair works are completed. Line marking will be done in the coming weeks, updates will be provided here.

2/7/2024 - Repair works are ongoing to 19 July 2024, Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, and as required Saturdays. Works start near Tolwong Rd and will work towards Albatross Rd, Nowra. Motorists are advised to be aware of changing road conditions and observe onsite Traffic signage. See Related Information for - Braidwood Rd Residents letter May 2024.

4/6/2024 - Temporary Closure: Road works. Upcoming road works are planned to start Friday 7 June 2024 between 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and as required some Saturdays. 16/05/24 - Tender has now closed with the review of tender submissions ongoing and expected to conclude by the end of May 2024. Repair works are expected to commence early June 2024.

19/04/24 - Tender submissions have now closed. The review of tender submissions is in progress and will conclude by the end of May 2024.

4/4/2024 - Tender submissions for pavement repair work on Braidwood Road have been extended to 10:00am Thursday 18 April 2024.

27/03/2024 - Tender application documents have been issued and are closing 11 April 2024.

18/01/2024 - The last update for this project is still current.  Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available. 

 

2023 Works history

  • 28/08/2023 - Council has submitted the scope of work to Transport for NSW and is awaiting funding approval.
  • 22/06/2023 - Following a recent review by Transport for NSW, Council is finalising the scope of Braidwood Road. The revised scope is to be submitted for approval in early August 2023.
  • 07/06/2023 - The scope of works for 50km of road damage will be finalised by 16 June 2023. Council will then forward a submission to Transport for NSW for Natural Disaster funding.
  • 28/04/2023 - Pavement scoping of 50km of road damage is being finalised and a request for quotation will be issued in May pending funding approval.
  • 14/04/2023 - Pavement scoping of 50km of road damage is continuing in order to seek funding from TfNSW now that risk mitigation works have been undertaken. A request for quotation will be issued in April pending funding approval.
  • 30/03/2023 - Council will be going out to quotation in April 2023 for pavement repairs. Advanced warning signs and variable message boards are in place. Pothole patching has been completed. Scheduled pothole patching is carried out on a weekly basis. Road users are being asked to drive to conditions.
  • 24/02/2023 - Works along the road between Endrick River and Touga Road have been completed. Council staff are awaiting determination from TfNSW of funding approvals for further works that have been scoped. Please drive to conditions.

 

2022 Works history

  • 22/11/2022 - Council staff are working with TfNSW to rectify damages on a larger scale along Braidwood and Turpentine Roads. At present the speed along these roads is being reduced to 60km/h with regular pothole filling being undertaken. Staff are scoping damages in order to prepare a tender. The estimated completion timeframe for scoping and speed reduction is 4 weeks.
  • 05/10/2022 - The previously planned resealing and patching works have been delayed due to the current inclement weather conditions.   Works are now scheduled to commence on Monday, 10 October, weather permitting.
