05/06/2023 - Bitumen sealing of road approaches completed.
28/05/2023 - A major accomplishment has been the bitumen sealing of the road approaches, which will assist shield the new roadwork from the elements. There is still plenty to accomplish, including the building of earthworks and retaining walls next to the north-eastern approach, the installation of steel crash barriers, the placement of signs, and earth stabilisation work, even though the project is anticipated to be finished in the next three weeks. Impact on traffic will be minimal.
20/05/2023 - Road pavement construction along both approaches to the bridge is nearing completion and will soon be ready for bitumen sealing. Steel crash barrier installation will then be completed before the old timber bridge is removed. Yalwal Rd will need to be closed for several hours within the next week to allow the bitumen sealing to take place. A further public announcement confirming road closure date and times will be made as soon as the date for bitumen sealing is confirmed.
31/03/23 - “All hands on deck”. Up to 8 “men at work” were required today to place over 50 cubic meters of premixed concrete for the twin span bridge deck.

27/03/23 - Following installation of the bridge abutments, central headstock and rock scour protection, the four (4) prefabricated steel formwork / steel reinforced deck units were carefully lowered into place onto the abutments and headstock. Next week, steel reinforcement tie bars will be fixed in place and the deck formwork units will be filled with 50 cubic metres of premixed concrete.
21/03/2023 - Yalwal Rd will be closed for 3 days between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm on the following days:
• Friday 24th March 2023 – at the Yarramunmun bridge site to allow placement of prefabricated steel formwork bridge decks
• Monday 27th March 2023 – between Yarramunmun Ck bridge and Yalwal Gap (2.5kms) for overhead pruning of bushfire affected trees
• Tuesday 28th March 2023 – between Yarramunmun Ck bridge and Yalwal Gap (2.5kms) for overhead pruning of bushfire affected trees.
Traffic will not be permitted past these planned road closure locations.
20/02/2023 - Nine (9) 600-mm diameter concrete piers have been drilled into the earth. To support the bridge "abutments" and centre "headstock" when the creek floods, each pier was dug at least 1000 mm into exceptionally hard rock beneath the stream bed. Steel outer casings were put in place to stop the ground from slumping into the bore holes.
