Volunteering with the NSW RFS offers you the opportunity to learn new and valuable skills that will not only assist you in your voluntary role but in day-to-day life and even your workplace. It is also an opportunity to meet people you wouldn't normally meet. For many of our members, it's also about being part of a wonderful tradition and an organisation with a very proud history.

On-call firefighters respond to local emergency incidents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from their home or other workplaces. They are notified by pager or mobile phone and can balance other work, study and family commitments while also protecting and supporting their local community.
We employ people who reflect our professionalism and values, as well as the diversity of our community.
