Photovoltaic solar panels are mounted on the roof to collect energy from the sun which is then used to power part of the electrical systems within a facility. This system produces clean energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions as well as reducing the operating costs associated with electricity accounts.
A selection of Council Infrastructure that has solar energy systems are as follows:
Bay and Basin Leisure Centre's news photovoltaic (PV) cells and Inverter which were installed in 2010 and then upgraded in 2012
Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre's new solar panels
Kioloa Marine Rescue
Milton Rural Fire Service
St Georges Basin RFS
