Shoalhaven City Council encourages businesses to continually review their operations to ensure they are operating sustainably, minimising waste and preventing pollution. A cleaner business can save money through energy, water and waste savings as well as protecting our environment.
To assist businesses to become more sustainable Shoalhaven City Council is conducting the Business Treading Lightly (BTL) Program. The program offers a range of fee for service packages to support businesses to reduce their ecological footprint. Further information is available from BTL
(new window) or Council’s Economic Development Office on (02) 4429 3388.
Environmental Health Officers carry out environmental audits of business to review compliance with environmental legislation. The Protection of the Environment (Operations) Act is the primary environmental legislation business should be familiar with to make sure they are not breaking the law.
To assist business to meet their environmental obligations the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage have produced a series of fact sheets and checklists for most industries. Industry specific information is available on the NSW OEH website
