Glass (bottles and jars)

Only glass bottles and jars that originally contained a food or beverage (the type of products you would typically buy at the supermarket), can be recycled via the yellow lid bin.

Before you throw it out

Empty contents. Clean out any excess food by giving the container a quick rinse with used dishwater.

Remove lids from container. Find out what to do with lids here.

How/where to dispose of it

Recycle glass bottles and jars via the yellow lid bin or Council's recycling and waste depots.

Will it cost anything to get rid of?

No.

What happens to it after we receive it?

Jars and bottles are sorted and sent to glass recycling plants to be made into new glass products.
