Only limited types of glass bottles and jars can be recycled via the yellow lid bin.

What is 'other' glass?

Other glass is any glass that is not a food/beverage bottle or jar including

  • drinking glasses
  • window panes
  • mirrors
  • vases
  • bowls
  • crockery

Before you throw it out

Glass items in good condition may be accepted at Council’s buy-back centres or donate to an Op-shop.

How/where to dispose of it

Broken glass items dispose of into your red lid bin.

Dispose of larger glass items at Council's recycling and waste depots.

Will it cost anything to get rid of?

Disposal fees apply at the recycling and waste depots.

What happens to it after we receive it?

Buy-back centre items are sold and given a second life.

Contents of the red lid bin go directly to landfill.
