Power Cords
Power cords are electronic waste (e-waste) and must be kept out of your kerbside bins. They create a fire hazard in collection vehicles and receiving facilities. E-waste can become an environmental hazard.
Before you throw it out
Keep intact.
How/where to dispose of it
Recycle via Council's recycling and waste depots
Will it cost anything to get rid of?
No. Disposal is free for domestic quantities only.
What happens to it after we receive it?
Power cords are stripped at our facility at West Nowra recycling and waste depot.
The outer rubber lining is stripped then pulped to a crumb like product. It is sold on to create new products including rubber surfaces for playgrounds.
The interior copper is separated and sieved to small particles and sold to metal recyclers.
