Takeaway Food Containers

Only hard plastic takeaway containers can be recycled via the yellow lid bin. 

These include

  • supermarket deli containers
  • takeaway Chinese containers
  • takeaway sushi

Before you throw it out

Empty contents. Remove excess food debris with a quick rinse of used dishwater.

How/where to dispose of it

Recycle via the yellow lid bin or Council's recycling and waste depots.

 

Cardboard containers

  • Cardboard food containers are soiled, therefore cannot go into your yellow lid bin. They can go into your compost bin.
  • Many cardboard food containers are lined with plastic. They will have a smooth, waxy feel. Dispose of these into your red lin bin.

 

Biodegradable containers
