Timber

Only branches less than 150 mm diameter are considered garden (green) waste.

Timber that is not garden waste includes:

  • Logs
  • Treated and untreated timber
  • Fence palings
  • Palettes

Before you throw it out

Check what type of timber you have as this will determine how you can dispose of it.

How/where to dispose of it

Dispose of at Council’s recycling and waste depots.

Will it cost anything to get rid of?

Yes. Disposal costs vary depending on type of timber.

What happens to it after we receive it?

  • Timber classified as green waste will be shredded and recycled into our 'free mulch'.
  • Pallets are either placed in the buy-back centre or shredded, depending on demand.
  • Timber that is 'treated' or otherwise unsuitable for recycling, is sent to landfill.
