School tip tours

Every week, the contents of red bins from 58,000 Shoalhaven households are sent to landfill at the West Nowra Recycling and Waste Depot.  Find out how your Council manages a modern waste facility and how we are utilising innovative technologies to recycle materials once considered ‘unrecyclable’.

Seeing first-hand the massive task of disposing of our waste is a highly memorable lesson about environmental impact and shared responsibility.

The learning experience of a tip tour brings science education into the real world and may inspire future environmental leadership.

These tours are free to schools in the Shoalhaven courtesy of Shoalhaven City Council. Schools are required to organise their own bus (Maximum 26-seater buses please).

These tours are suitable for Year 6 science students, Year 10– 12 Geography and Earth and Environmental Science.
