Tip tours

Community Groups

Every week, the contents of red bins from 58,000 Shoalhaven households are sent to landfill at the West Nowra Recycling and Waste Depot.

Tip tours take you to areas of our facilities that are normally restricted to the public, so that you can see a behind-the-scenes view of how a well-engineered landfill operates and how your Council manages the Shoalhaven’s waste every day.

Seeing first-hand the massive task of disposing of our waste is a highly memorable experience about environmental impact and shared responsibility.

The FREE, guided tour includes:

  • recycling opportunities available at the depot
  • insight into new major projects happening at the depot
  • a recycling 'Q and A' with refreshments held at the completion of the tour
  • traveling in comfort on a small bus

These tours are free to Shoalhaven community groups with a minimum requirement of 20 participants (maximum 23).

Tip Tours are finished for 2024. For 2025 bookings or more information, email wasteadmin@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au.
