Following a detailed planning process and ongoing community consultation, Council has adopted new planning controls for existing residential areas to the west and south of Nowra’s CBD.
The new planning controls in the Local Environmental Plan (LEP) aim to ensure that future development in the fringe area of the CBD consider the character of the area, in both planning and design.
Mayor Amanda Findley was pleased to see the character of the Nowra CBD fringe area recognised and considered in future development. “The new measures will help guide positive development in the Nowra CBD fringe area, addressing building setbacks, landscaping, streetscape and other aspects.
“The controls will ensure that any new development considers its impact on the established character and will encourage cohesion with the surrounding environment.” Clr Findley said.
The new LEP controls will apply to all relevant development applications (DA’s) submitted from and under Council assessment at the date of commencement. The associated new Development Control Plan (DCP) controls will apply to all relevant DA’s submitted from 13 March 2020.
