Helping Business be Disability Inclusive
To assist the business community, Shoalhaven City Council, together with the NSW Business Chamber, are hosting two free disability awareness training Workshops in September aimed specifically at businesses in the Shoalhaven.
The workshops will support employers and employees gain a better understanding of what disability is and tips on working with people living with disability. Participants will learn how to attract more customers by providing better access to their business.
Workshops will be held on Wednesday, 13 September 2017, 5.00pm – 7.30pm at the Shoalhaven City Council Administration building, Bridge Street Nowra and Wednesday, 20 September 2017, 5.00pm – 7.30pm at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, 81B Princes Highway, Ulladulla.
Council’s Director of Corporate and Community Services, Craig Milburn said, “The introduction of the NDIS will encourage people with disability to be more active consumers. This is a great opportunity for businesses to give their staff free training around how to best support this and bring more business their way.”
In the Shoalhaven more than 1 in 5 people have a disability and this number is increasing as our population ages. In the Shoalhaven 34.3% of our residents are over 60, this is significantly higher than the State average of 27.2%.
All businesses are welcome to attend but should register.
