Shoalhaven City Council joined the community at the official opening of Ison Park Football Complex Amenities, South Nowra on Thursday, 30 November 2017 to celebrate the joint venture of new amenities at Ison Park.
Mayor Amanda Findley said she was proud to work in partnerships with the Shoalhaven Football Association on such an imperative project for the community.
“Ison Park is one of the Shoalhaven’s most frequented sportsgrounds with the Football Association hosting more than 3,000 players across the winter season,” Clr Findley said.
“This project is a great example of Council working in partnership with strong community groups to build the facilities they need to support their sport.
“The Shoalhaven Football Association partnered with Council and generously donated $200,000 from their own savings towards these substantial improvements.”
The new amenities building is now home to four separate change rooms with showers, two referee change rooms, six unisex toilets, plus a unisex wheelchair accessible toilet/parenting room.
The grounds host numerous competitions including summer competition, State league, National Indigenous Tournament, Wollongong Wolves’ Festival of Football showcase and school carnivals.
The Mayor continued, “Enhancing the amenities alongside such a significant sporting centre for the Shoalhaven is an important priority for Council, helping our sporting clubs thrive.”
