Shoalhaven City Council is pleased to announce the official opening of Sanctuary Point’s Clifton Park. The park has recently undergone an impressive transformation with the installation of a new, inclusive playground.
Integrated with the adjoining ‘Learn to Ride’ track, accessible amenities block and off-leash dog area, the new equipment and universal design allows all members of the community to come together to enjoy the space.
Mayor Amanda Findley was thrilled with the upgrades stating the inclusive design now allows all children to come together, form new friendships and explore through play.
“Clifton Park will help create treasured childhood memories for many local children, through learning to ride on the track, forming new friendships at the playground and just enjoying special time with family.” Mayor Amanda Findley said.
“A key new feature is an accessible combination play area, with the universal design feature and adjoining ramp allowing wheelchair access to lower parts of the play structure.
“The recent improvements have created a real community space, providing an environment facilitating safe play whilst developing further social skills. These areas are vital to help children develop a wider sense of community.” Clr Findley said.
Additional improvements to the playground include a cross challenge climber, swing with a cub seat as well as role play equipment including a police station, service station and petrol pump. With further enhancements still to come at a later date.
