Comerong Island Ferry

Council wishes to advise local residents and visitors that the Comerong Island Ferry is currently out of service due to significant damage sustained during the recent heavy rains.

Council are working in difficult conditions to determine the full extent of the damage and schedule the repairs.

The Ferry has received damage to the drive cables and wheelhouse after being struck by debris and river navigation markers. It is anticipated that the Ferry will be operating by 21 February 2020, dependent on weather conditions.

Council is currently arranging a  “residents only” punt service is being arranged to transport passengers to and from the island. This service which subject to “safe water” and weather conditions, is expected to commence on Friday 14 February 2020. If the serious weather forecasts occur this weekend, the punt service is not expected to be able to be provided.
