Due to heightened restrictions and staff availability, the following Recycling and Waste depots have been closed until further notice.
- Lake Conjola
- Sussex Inlet
- Kangaroo Valley
Our remaining depots, West Nowra, Huskisson and Ulladulla are still open.
For the safety of our staff and the greater community we wish to remind residents that the Federal Government have directed that “All Australians are required to stay home unless it is absolutely necessary to go outside” .
This applies to waste that is not essential. Waste that is not a health hazard including green waste, building waste and recyclables are not deemed essential, as this waste can be stored for a long period without creating a health hazard.
Council is asking residents to adhere to social distancing rules and minimize interactions with depot staff by not attending depots to dispose of non-essential waste.
Waste that can affect the health of the community, like food waste and animal poo is considered “essential waste” and should be placed in your red kerbside bin for collection.
Our depot staff are experiencing the same uncertainties as the rest of the Shoalhaven community through this challenging time and we ask residents to stop and consider how their activities can risk the health of staff, themselves and the community.
