To calculate an estimate of your rates for the coming 2017/18 rating year you will need to know your new land value. This was mailed to you by the NSW Valuer General during April 2017. To access your land values online, click on the following link to the NSW Valuer General's website and follow the instructions. Access Your Land Values
You will also need the land value from your annual rate notice that you received in July 2016. Your rates notice will also show other charges such as your garbage bin size and stormwater, if applicable.
There will be two amounts calculated, the first is your current rates amount, the second using the Special Rate Variation (SRV) of 13.0%.
On 9 May 2017, the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) approved a Special Rate Variation for Shoalhaven City Council of 13.2% on a one year temporary basis. On 15 June 2017, Council adopted IPART’s determination.
This decision allows Council to increase its general rate income by 13.2% in 2017/18. A 13% increase will apply to all ratepayers, and the additional 0.2% of general rate income will be generated by Veron’s Estate Special Rates.
