Share your thoughts on Bay & Basin Leisure Centre redevelopment

The community are invited to have a say about the concept design for the proposed redevelopment of the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre.
The proposed upgrades have been designed to meet the changing needs of a growing community and to replace ageing infrastructure.
“We’re excited to unveil these plans that will not only revitalise this facility but also support the health and wellbeing of residents of the Bay and Basin area,” Mayor Amanda Findley said.
“The ideas and thoughts expressed by the community will determine whether the design concept aligns with the community’s vision for this facility and considered for any potential adjustments to the final design,” Cr Findley said.
The proposed redesign includes:
- dedicated learn-to-swim pool
- expanding the gym
- improved all weather water slide
- brand new skatepark
- community meeting rooms
- upgrades to the existing pool and amenities
- enhancements to the sportsground precinct, including multipurpose courts
- revitalised landscaping
- additional parking area.
This redevelopment project seeks to align with Council’s aim to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with environmentally sustainable design options which may include rainwater harvesting, EV charging spaces in the carpark and new efficient mechanical services throughout.
There will be pop-up sessions at the leisure centre in November, where people can share their views directly with staff and the project architect.
