Berry Street Tree Removal
Published on 14 May 2020
Shoalhaven City Council would like to inform residents of the upcoming tree removal along Berry Street, Nowra as part of the streetscape upgrade.
Works will soon be underway to remove the existing London Plain Trees on the western side of Berry Street, between Junction Street and Worrigee Street, Nowra. Council have had to make the decision to remove the trees upon the discovery that the root system is too shallow and large to be compatible with an urban streetscape. Further to this, the tree roots have also caused significant damage to the footpath and underground services.
Following consultation with the Nowra CBD Revitalisation Strategy Committee, Council will be removing the trees and replacing them with Ornamental Pear Trees. The new trees will be planted within a tree management system to prevent any future damage to adjoining infrastructure.
Council would like to thank the community's patience for any disruptions during the upgrade. Residents can keep up to date on all Council Road Work projects by searching current road conditions in councils search bar for more information.
