BreastScreen NSW has temporarily suspended screening
Published on 03 April 2020
BreastScreen NSW has temporarily suspended routine breast screening to limit the transmission of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The decision made by BreastScreen NSW prioritises the wellbeing of women, staff and the community; whilst also freeing up capacity in the health care system by making clinicians available to support and respond to COVID-19, and by reducing the demand on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which would otherwise be required if screening continued.
If you have had your appointment cancelled, you will be notified by BreastScreen NSW directly as soon as possible. BreastScreen NSW will contact you again to reschedule your appointment when the service re-opens.
If you have recently had a screen with us, rest assured you will still be notified of your results by letter. If you’ve been called back for additional tests, you will still be able to attend your follow-up appointments.
BreastScreen NSW encourages you to remain breast aware and if you find a breast change that is unusual for you, contact your doctor or health worker without delay.
For further information and advice, please call BreastScreen NSW on 13 20 50.
