Shoalhaven City Council has made the decision to close seven Recycling and Waste Depots in response to the heightened restrictions implemented to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The following Recycling and Waste Depots will be closed until further notice:

  • Kioloa
  • Lake Conjola
  • Bendalong
  • Sussex Inlet
  • Callala
  • Berry
  • Kangaroo Valley

West Nowra, Huskisson and Ulladulla Recycling and Waste Depots remain open to the residents and ratepayers for “essential” use. Disposal of waste that is not a health hazard, such as green waste and recyclables is not an essential service, and under current NSW Government restrictions, this would be considered non-essential travel.

Council is urging residents to follow NSW Health advice to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Effective Tuesday 31st March, residents should only leave their home for food or other essential goods and services; work or education, but only if a remote option is not possible; exercise or medical or caring reasons.

If it is essential for residents to attend depots, Council is requiring customers to adhere to social distancing rules and minimise interactions with depot staff. Further to this, Council is asking customers to not attend depots to dispose of non-essential waste.

Our depot staff are experiencing the same uncertainties as the rest of the Shoalhaven community through this challenging time and we ask residents to stop and consider how their activities can risk the health of staff, themselves and the community.
