The community is invited to have its say on the draft Coastal Management Programs (CMP) prepared for both the Lower Shoalhaven River and Lake Conjola coastal zones.

The two draft CMP documents outline a detailed program of management actions being considered by Council to manage these important estuary areas over the next decade and beyond.

“It’s crucial to incorporate the community’s values and visions into the management and protection strategies of our coastline,” said Manager Environmental Services, Dr Michael Roberts.

“These Coastal Management Programs not only reflect the actions we’ll undertake in the next decade to preserve these natural assets but also showcases how the community’s earlier contributions have been integrated.

“As we proceed to the public exhibition of these CMPs, we invite the community to once again make their voices heard, ensuring their input continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of how we manage our important coastal areas,” he said.

Both CMPs are now within Stage 4 of the five-stage CMP process and have been prepared in accordance with the NSW Coastal Management Act 2016. They have been developed in consultation with the community, traditional owners and State Government stakeholders.

During public exhibition, the two draft CMPs and their associated feedback surveys will be available on the Lake Conjola Coastal Management Program and Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program Get Involved web pages.

The community can provide feedback on the Lake Conjola Coastal Management Program from 25 October until 11:59pm on 25 November 2024.

The Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program will be on public exhibition in November.
