Introduction to Concussion in Sport
There is growing concern in Australia about the incidence of sport-related concussion and potential health ramifications for players. If managed appropriately, most symptoms and signs of concussion resolve over a short period of time. However, complications can occur, including prolonged symptoms and increased susceptibility to further injury. Coaches, managers and club managers have a role to play in the management of head injuries and concussion.
The use of the Concussion Recognition Tool 5 (CRT5) can be used by non-health personnel. The CRT5 is designed to assist coaches, managers and others recognise the signs and symptoms of possible concussion and provides guidance for removing a player from play/sport and to seek medical attention. The CRT5 is a freely available.
This presentation will benefit all sporting groups and your attendance would be greatly appreciated.
Please send your RSVP by 5pm, Monday 11 November 2019 and advise how many people from your sporting group will be attending to ruth.woodbridge@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au
