Council seeks feedback on communication and engagement

Residents can contribute to the development of the Community Engagement Framework by telling Council how they want to be informed and consulted on future projects and initiatives.
Information gathered will help develop a robust framework for staff to support Council’s Community Engagement Strategy that was adopted last year.
“Everyone in our community offers a unique perspective and has their own individual ideas that need to be heard in the process of planning and delivering works and services across the city,” said Mayor Amanda Findley.
“Through this consultation, we aim to establish a consistent, best-practice approach to community engagement that aligns with the needs and preferences of our diverse population,” Cr Findley said.
"Information from the survey would inform the development of communication strategies and engagement initiatives that prioritise transparency, inclusivity, and responsiveness to community needs,” she said.
As part of the consultation, the community is being asked to share how they typically stay informed about community initiatives, their preferences for receiving information when there are feedback opportunities and their preferred methods for sharing thoughts and views.
Community engagement activities are being held with Council’s Advisory Committees and the community consultative bodies as well as pop-up stalls during the next few months at various markets. An online survey will be open to the community until Wednesday, 15 May 2024.
To participate in the survey and contribute to the future of community engagement in the Shoalhaven, residents are encouraged to visit the Get Involved page.
