Shoalhaven residents and visitors are invited to have their say on the proposed location of a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station.

Council is proposing to enter into a licence agreement with the NRMA to occupy and operate the four bay DC fast chargers at the Berry Street car park in Nowra.

The site was nominated by the NRMA following a collaborative search process with Council.

The proposed charging station includes two 180kW ABB Terra DC chargers, which can charge an EV to 80% battery charge in 20 minutes, subject to vehicle specifications and competing power load.

Endeavour Energy has been engaged to design the new facility via an upgrade to the existing sub-station located adjacent to the proposed charging station.

The facility would form part of the National EV charging network being proposed by the NRMA in partnership with the Australian Government.

The NRMA, under a Federal Government grant, would be responsible for all costs associated with the construction and installation of the charging station infrastructure and the ongoing operational costs to maintain the station. This project also aligns with Council’s Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.

The community is invited to comment on the proposal between Wednesday 27 November and Tuesday 24 December.
