Feedback invited on the Berry Showground Master Plan
Published on 17 July 2023
Community feedback is being sought for the draft Berry Showground Master Plan that includes conserving site heritage, new pathways and community facilities, and extensive grounds maintenance.
The draft includes the proposed refurbishing of buildings and fencing to protect the site’s heritage, new and upgraded pathways, improvements to the camping area amenities and cattle yard maintenance.
“Berry Showground is a very special place for both residents and visitors alike. It’s home to a range of heritage buildings, including the impressive grandstand and agricultural pavilion that we need to protect,” said Mayor Amanda Findley.
“We invite the community to have their say by completing a brief survey to tell us how the showground should be managed and maintained for our communities to enjoy into the future,” Cr Findley said.
The draft master plan maps out the site’s internal road network, sporting fields, buildings and natural features. The plan further details the proposed direction for future works on the site that encourages sport, agricultural activities, outdoor nature recreation and community gatherings.
Conservation information is also defined for each of the significant heritage buildings and structures at the showground that need to be protected.
The draft plan is based on feedback gathered from the community when over 130 people completed a survey or attended a range of workshops and drop-in sessions.
The draft master plan will be on exhibition for four weeks, from Monday 17 July to Sunday 13 August 2023.
