Have your say on Community Engagement Strategy and Framework
Published on 29 November 2024
Residents are invited to provide feedback on the draft Community Engagement Strategy and Framework 2024-28.
The draft strategy and framework outlines the strategic approach and delivery methods of engagement activities to gather community input that helps guide the decisions of Council.
“Community engagement and participation provides the foundation of our planning and decision-making process. It ensures we’re reflecting the values of local communities when we develop plans and undertake projects,” said Mayor Patricia White.
“This draft strategy and framework sets the standard for consultation activities to be applied across the spectrum of engagement Council staff conduct and I encourage residents to review the document and provide feedback,” Cr White said.
The document has been developed based on the model code of International Association of Public Participation, applying social justice principles and incorporating community feedback gathered during consultation in April and May this year via 509 survey submissions and discussions with advisory committees of Council.
It includes methods of engagement, objectives and measures of engagement as well as the roles and responsibilities of teams across Council, civic leaders, committees, community groups, residents and other stakeholders in consultation activities.
The Shoalhaven City Community Participation Plan that focuses on planning and development is under review and will go to Council in the coming months, to be incorporated into the community engagement strategy at a later date.
The draft document can be viewed on Council’s Get Involved Shoalhaven website and will be made available at local libraries and Council administration offices. Feedback can be provided by completing an online survey or making a submission before Friday 31 January 2025.
