Shoalhaven City Council is pleased to announce the official opening of the upgraded Howell Faulks Park in Cambewarra. Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley officially opened the new all-abilities playground and picnic area today. Councillors Nina Digiglio and John Wells were also in attendance.

The Howell Faulks Park upgrade of a new picnic area and inclusive playground equipment was supported by a grant from the NSW State Government of $50,000. Council co-contributed $25,000 towards the project from the Parks Enhancement Program.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said the new equipment will better meet the needs of the community and will beautify the recreational area for local families, children and visitors of all abilities to enjoy.

“I would firstly like to thank the NSW State Government for their support. I would also like to thank the Cambewarra Residents and Rate Payers Association community group who have been integral throughout the consultation period and during the installation, with the group installing the new shelter.” Clr Findley said.

“It is great to see inclusivity being a key element in the design for recreational upgrades ensuring families of all abilities have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.” Clr Findley said.

A shelter consisting of a covered seating area and an accessible table next to the existing barbecue facilities was installed and three new playground items have been added that provide inclusive play: an inclusive carousel, nest swing, and accessible buggy rocker. For more information visit Council’s Get Involved page.
