Mayor’s Giving Box launch
Published on 15 November 2023
A small gift can help bring joy to a child and family in need - that’s the message we’re sharing with the Shoalhaven community as we launch the Mayor’s Giving Box just five weeks out from Christmas.
For more than 20 years the annual campaign has been donating presents and funds to local charities and preschools to make sure no one misses out at this special time.
This year the recipients include Cullunghutti Aboriginal Child and Family Centre, Lyrebird Preschool, Clipper Road Children's Centre and Salt Ministries.
“As a community, it’s important to support each other and do what we can to ensure everyone has a good Christmas,” Cr Findley said.
“No one wants to see people in our community go without, so if you can spare even a small donation, it will make a big difference,” she said.
"In addition to the preschools receiving gifts, Salt Ministries, who do a wonderful job in supporting the community, will also distribute presents to our most vulnerable.”
More than 600 gifts were distributed to families in 2022 thanks to the generosity of Shoalhaven residents and businesses.
This year, a substantial donation from Manildra Group has already provided a welcome boost and will go a long way to help bring joy to families doing it tough this Christmas.
There are two easy ways for residents and businesses to donate:
- Drop an unwrapped present at the Giving Box at Stockland
- Make an online donation on the fundraising platform Give Now.
The Mayor’s Giving Box is located between Lowes and Connor stores in the Stockland Nowra Shopping Centre and is open from Wednesday 15 November until Sunday 24 December.
