A floating pontoon at the former Nowra Sailing Club has been cordoned off to the public following a fire on Sunday evening 10 September, leaving it inaccessible to all watercraft users and recreational fishers.

The pontoon at the southern bank of the Shoalhaven River measures 11.5 metres long and 2.5 metres wide and consists of fibreglass decking sitting atop floats.

Following an inspection by Engineers, the entire section of the pontoon will need to be replaced.

Council is assisting police with their investigations and appealed to the public to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if they have any information in relation to the fire.

Access to the pontoon will not be available to the public until further notice.
