Shoalhaven City Council will close public playgrounds, skateparks and outdoor gyms following further restrictions announced by the Federal Government last night as it endeavours to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Council asks that residents comply with the closures and avoids these areas to help decrease the spread of the novel coronavirus.  Signage will be put in place at relevant locations over the coming days.

Council will continue to deliver all essential services such as waste and recycling collections, as well as the cleaning of public amenities.  Our Business Continuity Plans has been enacted and the situation is being monitored daily.  Further restrictions may be implemented in response to advice from the Federal and State health authorities.

Council also reinforces Government advice that non-family public gatherings of over two people outdoors are now not permitted.  State Government fines will apply to anyone in breach of this order. If you see anyone not doing the right thing, you are encouraged to report the matter to Crime Stoppers, see further detail below.

It is important in times like this that the Shoalhaven comes together as a community and adheres to Health Advice, to ensure we play our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Practise good hygiene

  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially before eating, cooking, or feeding others to prevent the spread of germs.

  • Sneeze into your elbow.

  • Stay at home if sick.

Observe social distancing requirements

  • Practice social distancing. Where possible, maintain a distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and another person. Adhere to all directions given by customer service staff

  • Only leave the house for essential work and travel.

What do I do if I see someone not following the social distancing guidelines or not self-isolating when required?

Contact Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000.  Please provide them with as much information about the contravention as possible, including the date, time, location and any relevant information regarding the infringement.   NSW Police will be enforcing the social distancing rule and checking on self-isolation cases when necessary.
