Shoalhaven City Council is asking residents to comply with the closure of public playgrounds, skateparks and outdoor gyms and avoid taped off areas to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The temporary closure applies to all skate parks, playground equipment in community neighbourhood parks as well as outdoor exercise equipment across the Shoalhaven region.

It’s important we don’t use the equipment, so we don’t provide the opportunity to spread the disease through our communities. Council staff are placing signage and barriers where needed at relevant locations over the coming days.

Council also reinforces Government advice that non-household public gatherings of over two people outdoors are now not permitted. The community can continue to use open spaces for their daily walk, through only whilst adhering to social distancing regulations. The community is reminded that use of all equipment is strictly off-limits and is now closed.

Council will continue to deliver all essential services, including the cleaning of public amenities. The situation is being monitored daily by Council and further restrictions may be implemented in response to advice from Federal and State health authorities.

What do I do if I see someone not following the social distancing guidelines or not self-isolating when required?

Contact Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000.  Please provide them with as much information about the contravention as possible, including the date, time, location and any relevant information regarding the infringement. NSW Police will be enforcing the social distancing rule and checking on self-isolation cases when necessary.

A full list of closed park facilities in the Shoalhaven can be found here, with further details of parks and playgrounds in the area at; https://shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/Discover-Shoalhaven/Parks-playgrounds

It is important in times like this that the Shoalhaven comes together as a community and adheres to Health Advice, to ensure we slow the spread of COVID-19.

Residents are encouraged to view current Council service updates on Council’s website here.
