Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre and Swim, Sport and Fitness Centres are once again accepting reusable cups by introducing a new contactless method to keep patrons and visitors safe.
From Wednesday 30 September residents and visitors can request their coffee is served in re-usable cups at these Council facilities.
Council staff use a contactless coffee method to supply customers their beverage in a COVID-safe way.
Each Centre use a contactless coffee method that adheres to COVID-safe practices.
Shoalhaven City Council’s Mayor Amanda Findley is pleased to see the reintroduction of reusable cups in Council facilities.
“Keeping patrons and visitors safe is always a top of mind for Council staff in our facilities. That’s why I’m so pleased to see that it's in a safe way whilst helping to reduce unnecessary waste going to landfill”, Clr Findley said.
“Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19 on workplace safety and hygiene practices, we have seen a huge increase in single-use plastics, including takeaway coffee cups”, Clr Findley added.
“I am proud that Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre and Swim, Sport and Fitness facilities have received high ‘scores on doors’ hygiene ratings in their cafes and continue to meet the highest food service standards”, Clr Findley stated.
“I encourage residents to support local cafes who are returning to reusable cups. And I hope that with Council leading the way, other cafes can feel confident in making the transition too”, Clr Findley said.
