Council crews have mechanically opened the entrance to Tabourie Lake following prolonged inundation conditions.

The water level at Tabourie Lake has been above 1.0m AHD for more than two consecutive months, reaching the prolonged inundation trigger, in accordance with the Tabourie Lake Entrance Management Policy and NSW Crown Lands License.

At 8:00am on Wednesday, the water level in Tabourie Lake was 1.27m AHD.

People are requested to stay outside the work area and keep away from the edges of the dug channel and eroding banks following the opening, as these areas are likely to be unstable and unsafe.

Wednesday’s mechanical intervention follows an attempt by Council to open the Lake’s entrance 10 days ago, however the big swells and storm wash over pushed sand back into the channel after works were completed.
